| As of last night, our first conference (in Orlando, FL) is officially over. While there were definitely things that we did that could be improved upon, it went very well and we all enjoyed ourselves. My two "big" jobs are conference scheduler and staff room organizer. The first means that I'm responsible for scheduling classes/activities on a daily basis; the second means that I have to keep our staff room clean and organized and keep an inventory of everything that we have, and everything that we need for each conference. I also have a few minor jobs that don't take up too much time.
One of the biggest things I've learned this week is how much we all really do have to work as a team. Though we each have our own specific jobs, every single one of us is dependent on someone else in order for us to successfully run the conference. For example, when I schedule classes and activities, I have to work with the program scheduler to juggle people around. I also have to work with the facility coordinators on my team to make sure I put classes in the right place. Sometimes this didn't go as smoothly as desired, but I think we all learned lessons that are going to help us in future conferences.
Tomorrow we're teaching a conference at a private school (typically we teach homeschoolers) in Gainesville, FL. After that we're back home in Atlanta, and I'm crazy-excited about that.
This was only a very small glimpse into all that has transpired over the past week, and doesn't even cover our week of preparation at the Moon's house in Tennessee. If you want to see pictures of some of what I've been doing, I've started an album on picasa (because it's easier for me to upload them there rather than on facebook). The link for that album is: http://picasaweb.google.com/joyinthatmorning Enjoy! Oh, and if you'd like to contact me, email is probably the best since way, even if it does take me a few days to reply. I'd love to hear from you while I'm away!!

| Something was eating the cucumbers out of my dad's garden. We knew it couldn't be deer (like it has been in the past) because my dad put up an electric fence. There were not foot prints, so we were in quite bewilderment as to what the creature could be. Then my dad found out:
Here he is in his box with his cucumber.
...He wasn't hard to catch. Trust me. | | |
| ...even though I did delete that one forward this morning that popped up in my inbox saying that I had to send it to ten people in a hurry.
Just so you know.
[wow, i hate those things.]

| Today my aunt gave me a late graduation gift; a giftcard to Borders. I absolutely love books, but I'm not sure what I want to get. So, this is where all you lovely readers come in. What should I buy? What books have you enjoyed reading that you think I might enjoy as well? I'm thinking fiction, but I would love to hear about other books you liked as well. Thanks. =)

| Today promised to be a good day. My mom and I had planned to go shopping for tour today, and I was anticipating some good finds in the way of clothes and accessories. There was a 60% off sale at Goodys, and I couldn't wait to lay eyes on the items for sale. ;)
It was even a good day in the terms of how I felt. The lady at the desk in the chiropractor's office told me that I looked cute today. And I must say (at the risk of sounding like a total brat) that I thought so, too. I had painstakingly straightened my hair and was wearing one of my favorite shirts and a pair of jeans with my cute shoes from American Eagle. Yes, it was going to be a good day.
Then, something happened. As we rounded the curve in the road, we hit a bump (or something) and the nice cup of water I had fixed for myself spilt over onto my jeans and my pride fled. The water was mostly moving rapidly towards the seat to my pants, so I tried to lift myself up. But nooo...the seat belt decided to play a cruel trick and lock on me. It wouldn't even unlock when I tried. So I was forced to sit down (on the wet seat) and gingerly unbuckle the seat belt. Then I quickly hopped up and literally jumped onto the back seat, safe from any water spills.
And what was my mother doing all during this time? Laughing. That's right. Outright laughing at my distress. As I said, my pride died right there as I pictured myself jerking at the seat belt, finally resigning myself to wet-ness, and then bounding to the back of the van. All thoughts of my "cute outfit" were quickly diminished as I sat subdued on the back seat.
But in the end, it was a good day. I found potentially two pairs of clothing for tour (I say potentially because I'm not quite sure whether one will work yet or not), and got some great buys at Bath and Body Works.
Today promised to be, and was, a good day.
